Job Description

The Transportation Coordinator ensures that shipments into or out of The Rogers Company are handled quickly, safely and within budget constraints. They also coordinate with outside companies that provide freight services. Familiarity with shipment options, legal issues, government regulations and safety procedures is required, as is knowledge of geography, mathematics, and computer applications.

PRIMARY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  1. Policies and Procedures – Policies and procedures for transportation operations are developed and implemented by transportation managers
  2. Estimates – Provide detailed freight estimated per order
  3. Shipping Methods – Research the fastest and cheapest shipping methods and securing contracts with transportation providers based on that research
  4. Oversee shipment coordination and routing
  5. Documentation – Properly prepare and distribute shipping documents
  6. Freight Issues - Ensure that customer freight problems are researched and corrected
  7. Client Communication – Communicate directly with clients on job related needs or critical information flow
  8. Packing Lists – Create and maintain all outgoing packing lists and Bills of Lading

Qualifications, Skills and Knowledge Requirements

  1. Associates degree or above preferred but not necessary
  2. Two years shipping experience required.
  3. Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook)
  4. Excellent written and verbal communication skills a must
  5. Previous experience working with freight carriers
